Food and beverage freight gets rejected for being warm or for being late. We book reefer and dry van carriers we've checked, put the temperature in writing, and book to the receiver's appointment. You hear from us at pickup, on the road, and at delivery.
Temperature, in writing
The set point and run mode go on the carrier's rate confirmation. When the product calls for it we ask the driver to record pulp temperatures at pickup, and we look for carriers who follow FSMA sanitary transport rules for food-grade trailers.
DC appointments and lumper fees
Grocery DCs keep strict receiving appointments and often charge to unload. We book to the receiver's rules and tell you up front how lumper fees will be handled.
Produce season and summer volume
Produce seasons pull reefers from region to region, and summer beverage volume tightens dry vans. We talk through capacity with you before the season and warn you early if the market is moving your rate.
